There are many gesture drawing tutorials out on the web already. Most tutorials will teach a good foundation of how to simplify the body and a general idea of what line of action is.
So instead of repeating what has been done (and probably done at a better level than I could accomplish), I have decided to share some advice or considerations beyond the foundation techniques.
I too have been working hard at improving gesture, and I feel like I've developed so many skills on the fly by exploring gesture drawing through trial and error.
I wanted to share some of my insights, and I hope that the ideas I have to share will help others working on their skill sets.
This tutorial assumes that you have tried your hand a "gesture drawing session" in some form.
Good luck to all the artists out there!
Let's all work hard to get better!
